What do EDC, EDT, and EDP mean?

Friends who are new to perfume must be curious about what the EDT and EDP marked on the perfume bottle mean.

In fact, EDC, EDT, and EDP represent the concentration and durability of perfume. The higher the concentration, the longer the durability and the stronger the taste. Of course, this is only based on the high probability. Sometimes the concentration and durability are also related to the fragrance.

At present, perfume concentration is mainly divided into the following four categories (classified from light to strong):

Eau de Cologne Cologne

Eau de Toilette

Eau de Parfum Eau de Parfum

Parfum/Extrait Perfume

1. Myths about Eau de Cologne

It is found that many people have a great misunderstanding of the word cologne. Some people think that cologne = male perfume, but it is not. Cologne is the name of the concentration level of perfume.

The earliest cologne in history is Cologne 4711, Germany, which is still available today. Because of its fresh smell and high cost performance, it is highly recommended for student parties to buy and use it in summer.

2. The difference between EDC EDT EDP Parfum

EDC cologne has the lowest concentration among them. Most of the colognes taste fresh and hearty, mostly citrusy, suitable for summer use. The disadvantage is that the fragrance is short, about 1 to 2 hours. In recent years, the very popular brands such as Jo Malone and Cologne 4711 in Germany are mostly colognes, so it is not unreasonable for Jo Malone to be called San Bu San.

EDT Eau de Toilette is my favorite fragrance concentration, neither too strong nor too light, it is a very moderate fragrance concentration. Usually the taste is more elegant and fresh, but the fragrance will be longer than that of cologne. For example, Hermes Garden Series, Bulgari Darjeeling Tea, Hermes Earth, etc. are all Eau de Toilette.

EDP light essence has a strong taste. Many brands of perfume actually have two versions of EDT and EDP. Most of the flavors are the same, but EDP will last longer than EDT.

Generally, the fragrance of EDP is relatively strong and has a longer fragrance, which is suitable for use in autumn and winter.

Parfum fragrance has the longest fragrance retention and weak diffusion. At present, there are very few brands of fragrance on the market.

3. Does EDP have to be stronger and last longer than EDT?

In most cases, this is the case, but it also depends on the fragrance. For example, patchouli, sandalwood, iris, etc. will last longer, while raw materials such as citrus will last longer. For example, the earth of Hermès, although it is an Eau de Toilette, the fragrance time is still very good.
